Moving Day....

Josh was moved from  ICU to the Rehab unit yesterday.  They will work his butt off!  He is doing good. And eating a little more.  His lack of eating seems to really bother us women in his life.  I think the hardest thing for Josh is that he was always on the go, he never stopped!  He has looked at the same white walls now for 11 days.  It will be nice when we can get him outside for a bit.  I thought it was awesome to see him up and out of that bed yesterday!  He got a tour of the rehab center.

This little piggy went to market, this little piggy.....

Josh is still wiggling his feet and getting better at it. The PT had him sitting on the edge of his bed yesterday and standing with help today.  They removed the epidural so he has had more pain.
Wish he would eat more!  I think we have all been more than willing to get him anything that might sound good.

Good News!

Josh moved his left foot today!  Best news ever!  Klint Smith said it best, "That is awesome!  I really believe through the many prayers, blessing's and faith of everyone he will walk. He is such a great young man and has a special spirit.  We need to keep praying and thanking our Heavenly Father for this miracle"

Tuesday afternoon

Josh was in great spirits this afternoon.  Quite spunky actually! He had just had the filters put in to his legs and I was expecting a sedated droggy Josh.  That sure wasn't the case!  He had a HOT nurse that might have helped.  Even his Grandpa Brittian offered to spend the day.

what happened

On Saturday afternoon Josh was involved in a horrible motorcycle accident.  He went to lift his wheel over a 5" sprinkler pipe and the bike went up.  The bike kept going and Josh went down hard on his rear end.  He knew he was hurt bad.  Thank goodness he was with a friend and the friend was able to give Josh a Priesthood blessing at the scene of the accident.  He was taken by ambulance to Mount Pleasant hospital. There he was given a cat scan and it was discovered that he had a compressed fracture to his T9 and several smaller fractures to others.  And a broken pelvis.  The decision was made to transport josh to Utah Valley in Provo by life flight.  Josh was given more x rays and an MRI upon arrival.  Josh could feel touch to his legs but could not move them.  Sunday morning Josh went through a 6+ hour surgery to replace his T9 with hardware and to relieve pressure from his spinal cord.  To do this they went in between his ribs horizontally. The had to collapse his left lung and also removed a rib.  The rib was then ground up and put onto the hardware to help with healing. There was no injury to the spinal cord just pressure and bruising, the good news in all of this.  Josh had a rough night as expected.  Monday morning the news from the Dr was promising.  He said that for what Josh has been through he is doing excellent.  The chest tube may be removed as early as tomorrow.  Continue with your prayers.  They are appreciated.
